Samantha
Rubenhold is a graduate of the Elder Conservatorium Adelaide University,
completing her Bachelor of Music with 1st Class
Honours in
2000. She was a Young Artist of the State Opera of South Australia in 2002,
performing the role of Conception in Ravel’s L’Heure Espagnole,
and has recently performed the role of Giannetta and covered Adina for
the companies production of L’elisir d’Amore. For Co-Opera
Samantha has toured extensively throughout Australia performing roles including
Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Musetta in La Bohème, Fiordiligi
in Cosi fan tutte and Micaela in Carmen.
Samantha
has been a finalist in many prestigious competitions and has received
a number of scholarships and grants.
In 2002 Samantha
won the
prestigious German Operatic Award, becoming a member of Germany’s
Cologne Opera Studio from 2003 to 2005. During this time she sang a wide
array of roles including Atalanta in Handel’s Xerxes, Clorinda in
Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Gottliebchen in Glanert’s Scherz,
Satire, Ironie, Yvonne in Krenek’s Jonny Spielt auf and Pedro in
Don Quichotte. Her final year at Cologne culminated with Samantha’s
highly acclaimed portrayal of the lead role Anne in Fried’s The
Diary of Anne Frank. She was also voted ‘The best rising talent
for 2005’ in the North-West Rhine region of Germany. In 2006/2007,
Samantha performed the leading role of Isabella in Wagner’s Das
Liebesverbot for the Hamburg Chamber Opera in Germany. As a concert artist
Samantha has been soloist in many works including Mozart’s Mass
in C Minor, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Handel’s Messiah as
well as appearing as a soloist in the ‘Divine Mozart’ concert
with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra.
Future engagements include performing the roles of Barbarina in Le Nozze
di Figaro and Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto with the State Opera of South
Australia, as well as covering the roles of Susanna and Gilda in the companies
2008 season.
